Cayce’s Alkaline Diet

Mr. Cayce talked about diet and how it affects our health in reading 288-38. He said, "What we think and what we eat – combined together – make us what we are, physically and mentally." To learn more about this quote we suggest you read the following:

He offered an alkaline diet plan, that through its use creates automatically health within us. The alkaline diet plan is simple to understand, use, and follow.  He divided foods into "Four groups" from which you chose what you will eat.
Mr. Cayce’s recommended Guidelines for his Alkaline Diet Plan

Food Group #1
80% of your daily food intake should consist of foods from this group of alkaline-reacting foods. Four out of five average helping. Note: Some fruits & vegetables are not alkaline-reacting.

Food Group #2
20% of your daily food intake should consist of foods from this group

Food Group #3
Generally have these foods no more than three times a week

Food Group #4
Avoid these foods at all times.

Food Group #1 
80% of your daily food intake comes from this food group
Fruits & Vegetables grown locally that are fresh and ripe.
Vegetables grown above ground to include a variety of green & yellow
Vegetables grown below ground eat to a ratio of 1 below to every 3 above.
Beverages - 8 glasses of water daily, fresh juices, herb tea.

Food Group #2 
20% of your daily food intake should come from this food group
Breads – Whole grain, pumpernickel, black, rye: rye crackers
Cereal – Whole-grain, cooked or dry, wheat germ, all bran, shredded wheat
Dairy Products – Dry milk, buttermilk, skim milk, yogurt, raw milk, butter
Gelatin Prepared in Foods
Meats – Fish, fowl, lamb, game (2-3 times per week)
Nuts & Nut Butters – especially almonds, cashews, filberts
Olive & Peanuts Oils taken in small amounts
Soups

Food Group #3
Cheese – Soft varieties, cottage ricotta, cream, etc.
Desserts – Ice cream, custards, cooked fruits, puddings eat occasionally
Eggs – manly the yolks
Honey with the comb (sparingly)
Produce - shipped or stored
Red wine with dark breads - small amounts only
Soy Milk & Soy Products
Starch foods - mainly
Sweeteners – sparingly = beet sugar, maple sugar are preferred to cane sugar or
                         saccharin’s. Artificial sweeteners (Aspartame) are carcinogenic
White Potatoes skin & outer portion only
Whole Grains & Rice

Food Group #4 
Avoid these foods at all times.
Alcohol – especially beer (it is processed using white sugar)
Beef – except as beef juice
Benzoate Of Soda – as a preservative
Candy, Cakes, Pastries
Carbonated Beverages
Proteins, Starches, and Sugar combining at the same meal
Fried Foods (any)
Pickled Foods using White Vinegar
Pork – Except occasional crisp bacon
Process Foods –TV dinner, etc.
Refined Products – White flour, white bread, pastas, white sugar, salts, lard
Spices & Condiments, sparingly
Sugar Coated Cereals
