Rehab Guidelines For Injuries
And A List Of Needed Materials

Self-Help Supplies
All of the supplies needed or necessary that are mentioned in our rehab guidelines and rehab exercising self-help programs are available in our Bookstore.
Our College's Rehab Aim & Disclaimer
It is the aim of our raci41 college to expose you to better and effective ways of self-help health care methods to effectively rehab and prevent accidents and injuries.  And to make you more aware of safety and the countermeasure methods of accident and injury prevention.

While we cannot and will not assume responsibility for the safe operation and practice of your rehab program. However, it is our hope that by presenting responsible viewpoints, methods, and procedures on the prevention and the correction of rider problems that we will expose riders, racers, their families, and their race team members to more effective self-help health care methods.  Remember we're here to assist your learning, but we cannot guarantee that you will read, study, or learn the material, or even put it to use.

For more on Safety Awareness and the riding and raci41 countermeasures for accident and injury prevention see our "Safety Program".
Rehab & Prehab Guidelines
Remember this as you get started in planning your own at home rehab program.

The more strict you are with this rehab program
- The better it will work for you.

These guidelines are special procedures that you can follow to rehab both new and old motocross injuries.  These guidelines can to be executed once a day but for the best results they can be performed several times per day.  Over the course of the last 25 years I have found that four times per day to be the best at home rehab program.   Divided and equally spaced apart four treatment times that you can perform daily.  Generally speaking four treatments daily generates the best effective rate of improvement.

However if time is of the essence it is best to include the larger more powerful electromagnetic (Diapulse) equipment, Chiropractic manipulation, colon hydrotherapy, and hypnosis & NLP.  There procedures combined together with this self-help program greatly accelerate the injured areas to recover at their best possible rates.
The following is a rehab list, which comes from our more complete Rider Treatment Kit that we suggest you use for both prevention and correction of rider problems.

I have divided the list of needed materials below into 5 groups, which I hope will make them a little easier to understand when we discuss how to use them together in your at home self-help program.

Starting Your Rehab Program
Understanding Symptoms
Symptoms are indicators of how far a long or advanced the injury is.  Symptoms will advance, like stair steps, in an order from least noticeable to very noticeable.  They will also remit and go away by this same repeatable behavior.  I have found that most rider have not been paying careful attention to the outward signs and symptoms that their body's are broadcasting.  So, let's go over the symptoms that you will experience as they go from least  noticeable to very noticeable.  Remember to pay careful attention in your rehab program, its makes a major difference.  So, with that in mind let's go over these outward signs and symptoms as they advance from simple to complex in the following order:

1. Tired
2. Weak
3. Tight
4. Stiff
5. Soreness
6. Achiness
7. Tenderness
8. Pain

And they will remit in the reverse following order:
1. Pain
2. Tenderness
3. Achiness
4. Soreness
5. Stiff
6. Tight
7. Weak
8. Tired
The 10-Scale
We use a 10-Scale to evaluate and determine the initial placed of any symptom and how it's changing.  Zero means that there is no symptom at all. And the value of 10 is the worst degree or level of symptom that you can possibly imagine.  Remember to daily record in your rehab log the symptomatic 10-Scale of any or all of the above listed symptoms.

Also remember that you can use the above list of symptomology, the 10-Scale, and your bathroom scales, to daily measure and record the injury's rate of improvement. Remember to be consist in your feeling and measurements.
Next, let's discuss two body behaviors that are very important in recovering from injury.  They are the body's automatic responses to stimulation and are called Cross Over and Overflow.
Cross Over
Working The Good Side First (The concept of "Cross Over")
We always start off by working on the involved area but on the good side first.  Working on the specific area but on the good side first produces a therapeutic effect known as “Cross Over”.  Cross Over stimulation can be started the day following the injury and will therapeutically improve the injured area by 20%.  Also, while working on the good side, stimulate the areas just above and below the specific involved area of injury.  This procedure will improve the percentage of stimulation of the technique called “Overflow”.  Overflow is observed when you begin to therapeutically stimulating above and below the injured side on the injured side.  For more information see "Epsom Salt-Apple Cider Vinegar" baths & "Rehab Exercising Program".

Overflow
Working The Injured Side Last (The concept of "Overflow")
Now stimulate the areas just above and below the injured site.  This technique is called “Overflow” and will stimulate the injured area by another 30%.  Now remember you still have on started working directly on the injured site yet.  So, by the time you have completed all of the therapeutic stimulation to the good side and above and below the injured site you will have effectively generated an improvement of 50% without touching the injury.  For more information see "Epsom Salt-Apple Cider Vinegar" baths & "Rehab Exercising Program".

Cross Over-Overflow
Cross over-Overflow is a term I use to describe the stimulation process above and below the good side area of involvement.  I have found that this process improves the percentage of benefit to the injured side when you perform the stimulation process known as Overflow.

Now Let’s Discuss Each Item on the list of needed materials above.  And for additional information of each item click on their own individual hyperlinks.  The items listed in the first group will be used initially on the good side first.  Group #1 is performed first. Group #2 is performed once to twice everyday.  Group #3 is performed two to three times per day.  Group #4 is performed from four to as many times as needed daily.  Group #5 is performed once a day or as needed. If there is a hyperlink

1. Bathroom weighting scales
The bathroom weighting scales are to be used to measure the weight loads that can be place on both the good side area and injured side area.  In determining the weight each side can withstand you can accurately determine:
    1. The daily rate of improvement of the injured area
    2. And the day when the injured side will reach the good side's
        weight stress load.

Remember to hold the scale at the weight reached for at least 5 seconds for it to count as a measured weight.  Each day, at the same time, re-measure the injured side to measure the rate of its improvement.  And after a few days you will produce a reliable set of measured numerical values, which you can graph that can accurately predict when the injured area will reach that equal to the good side.

2. Orbital vibrators (hand held) stimulate the natural healing inflammatory mechanism of the body and promotes circulation and new blood flow.  We combine this stimulation process with Skin Brushing.  During the vibration process most  individuals will notice three positive sensations:
    1. It feels good
    2. It makes the skin itch where it is placed
    3. It makes the skin feel warm after a while of stimulation

When the area begins to itch turn off the vibrator and scratch the area with a skin brush.  Once the itching response has been satisfied start the vibration process again.  When it begins to itch again, stop and repeat the itching process with your skin brush.  Continue to repeat this vibration-skin brush stimulation process until the are begins to feel warm.  The warm sensation is an indication you have reached maximum stimulation.  At this time you may discontinue the vibration-skin brushing stimulation process to this area.

Itching
Itching is the body's automatic accelerated healing mechanism.  The vibrator activates this mechanism very well.  Place the vibrator on the good side and when the itching response is stimulated, stop the vibrator and scratch the itch with the skin brush.  Repeat this process over and over again until the itching response can no longer be produced or until a warm sensation is felt over the area.

Remember you will do this procedure on the good side first by applying the vibrator directly on the site.  Then when the body's  automatic itching healing response is satisfied is And then apply it to the skin areas above & below the site).  Next you will stimulate above and below the injured site staying well within the Green Zone or the "Pain-Free" areas or zones.

Caution
Vibration increases blood flow, circulation, and blood supply to the areas that it is placed on.  Because it promotes circulation and blood flow do not put the vibrator directly on the injured area for two to four days. After that time you may begin testing the vibrator near the injured site and work it closer and closer towards injured site.  Remember to stop immediately if any pain is produced by the vibrator.  Remember our rehab program is only applied to non-pain areas.  Never rehab in any pain zone or any painful area where pain is produced or increased by any stimulation process.

Note
If you do not have a vibrator yet advance to skin brushing.  But know that the combination of both working together works exceptionally well.

3. Skin Brush
Skin brushing is a simple but extremely effective home therapy.  It
can be used several times daily.  It is used for Cross Over and
Overflow stimulation as well as direct stimulation over the injured
site.  Caution, skin irritation is an indication that you are
overusing the skin brush over that area.  To learn more about
Skin Brushing click on the above hyperlink .  When you have finished skin
brushing advance to the rehab exercising program.

4. Rehab Instructional Video
The rehab instructional video covers rehab exercising for all
upper & lower extremities.  Review and study this video until you
feel comfortable with what you must do and how to do it. This
video can be purchased from our book store.

5. Exercising Tubing or Bungee cord (3/8” to 5/16” thick).  See
our Rehab Exercising program. When you have completed the
rehab exercising program advance to the Wobble Board.  To learn
how to make your own rehab bungee exerciser see
    Making A Bungee Exerciser.

6. Wobble Board
The wobble board is used to place joints through their range of
motion.  Start with the good side first and work your way towards
the injured side when the condition allows a "Pain-Free" range of
    motion.

Because of a cast, wobble range of motion may not be
possible to the injured side until removed.  However, remember
when you can perform wobble range of motion to the injured side
remember to only work within the "Pain-Free" range of motion
zones. When you have finished the wobble board requirements
remember to take all herbal supplements and proceed with the
    1. Violet Ray Tube (if you don't have one yet, continue with the others)
    2. Ceramic Magnets
    3. Piezo electric stimulator
    4  Castor Oil application
    5. Essential Oils application
    6. Orgone blanket stimulation
    7. Taping of your arches
    8. And take an Epsom Salt-Apple Cider Vinegar bath twice a day.
Once upon arising and the other just before bed time.
    9. And the taking of the following herbs, Solomon's Seal, Horsetail,
        and Cal. Phos.

7. Baking Soda & Epsom salt (used to clean and detoxify the
skin before starting treatment). Every time you get hurt you will
undergo a Shock reaction. The  shock reaction automatically
shuts down body systems starting with the least important and
advance  towards the most important.  Shock of any kind starts
off by shutting down all tertiary systems including your colon.  This
may not sound important enough to get worked up about or even
consider but the colon is the major system for all eliminations.
When it slows up or shuts down the rate of healing directly
follows.  It would be like plugging up or shutting down your bike's
exhaust system.  Exhaust flow is the first consideration is making
your bike go faster.  In healing faster it's just as important to
re-establish the colon's elimination flow. It has been said that the
colon is directly responsible for 92% of all human diseases.  And
by eliminating the colon problems automatically eliminates the
disease processes.  May I suggest you read the following
chapters on "Digestive Tract Hygiene" and "Colon Hydrotherapy".
The skin is also an eliminator.  The baking soda bath is used as another
    system for detoxification.

8. Epsom salt-apple cider vinegar bath (used for energizing &
accelerating tissue repair).  The body, like an automobile, used
two forms of energy.  One is a liquid carbon fuel and the other is
electrical.  Charging the body with electrical energy is important
in healing and athletic performance.  Daily Epsom salt-apple
cider vinegar baths supplies some of the electrical energy the
body needs to function under greater stress loads.  And the
bathing solution provides healing chemicals such as magnesium
sulfate and vinegar. They improve and shorten the healing time
by about 1/3 according to research studies. To learn more
    click on the hyperlinks above.

9. Solomon’s Seal (a herb that allows connective tissue to repair
itself in 1⁄2 the time).  Solomon's Seal is an herb that, not only
allows the body to repair an injury at a much faster rate but
allows the repaired tissue to approximate what it was like before
    the injury.

10. Horsetail
    This cell salt supports the
definition and knitting of bones and connective tissues

11. Castor Oil & flannel pack (all inflammations including abrasions,
pain, burns, & achy, stiff & sore muscles). Castor oil is some
pretty amazing stuff.  It can be used on all inflammation.
Inflammations are associated with all of the symptomology listed
above and range from just feeling tired and weak through feeling
tight, stiff, sore, achiness and continues up through tenderness
and pain. To learn more click on the above hyperlink.

12. Ceramic magnetic (both two N-1’s and two N-2’s)
Magnets are a source of all electrical power.  They truly are
amazing to observe and experience.  They have a  record of
successfully managing so many different body ailments virtually
eliminating the need for drugs and have corrected problems
before surgery was necessary.  And in some cases the riders
were able to by-pass surgical intervention.  To learn more about
ceramic magnets click on the hyperlink above.

13. Piezo Electric Stimulator
Electricity is what the body uses to heal itself. Frequent electrical
stimulation to troubled or injured areas allows those areas, not
only to heal faster, but  heal with a minimum of scar tissue
formation, in most cases. Applying frequent electrical
stimulations directly to problems allow the body to repair itself
without the use of harmful  chemical poisonous such as drugs. To
learn more about Piezo electric stimulators click on the above
    hyperlink.

14. Violet Ray Tube
Violet Ray Energy surrounds our planet and all of us and is the
primary source of electromagnetic energy that give life to all it
touches.  It is invisible to most but appears violet to those who
have developed their spiritual vision.  The violet ray energy has
many functions and the ones I know of are:
    1. Heals injured tissue faster than that normally experienced
    2. Revitalizes all life
    3. Invigorates all life
    4. Slows and retards the biological aging processes
    5. Transforms negative thought charges to positive ones
    6. Transmutes negative feelings and emotions to neutral or
        positive ones
    7. Healing the body of all disease formations
To learn more about the Violet Ray Tube and its amazing healing abilities
click on the hyperlink above.
If you do not have a violet ray tube yet, continue on with the application of the
other listed items.

15. Orgone Blanket
Like the electrical energy supplied by an Epsom salts-apple
cider vinegar bath, the Orgone blanket supplies the body with
additional electrical energy whenever it is place on the body.
The amount of electrical energy present is one of the
determining factors in not only how fast you heal but the quality
of healing itself. I routinely sleep on an Orgone blanket that I have
placed under my contoured sheet.  After you have experienced
it's amazing energizing effects you will know what I am talking
about.  To learn more about Orgone blankets click on the
     hyperlink above.

16. Tape - see Arch Supports
    A. 1 1⁄2” wide athletic tape (for taping the arches)
    B. Underwrap (for taping the arches
    C. 2” wide Elasticon (for taping the wrist)
    D. One can of tape prep spray (such as Tuf-Skin) (for taping
         the wrist)
    E. One Hair Clipper set

17. One can of WD-40 (to remove tape prep spray glue and any tape

18. Hot & cold treatments can be applied in Zip-lock baggies and hot water
bottles.  Follow the guidelines listed in the "Hot & Cold Applications" Chapter.

Rehab Reminders
Let's remind you of a few things about "Rehabbing".
1. First, injured tissues can not take the stress loads that normal
healthy tissue can so always exercise well within the "Green
    Zone" or "Pain-Free Zones".
2. Injured tissues can be exercised several times per day.  For
non-athletic individuals on set of 6, twice a day is within a normal
standard.  Athletic individuals however can exercise (one set of
    6) three to four times per day. Stiffness and soreness upon rising
next morning that decreases with the morning's daily activity is a
indication of productive or hypertrophy growth.
3. Exercise the good side first.  Start off with one set of 6 and work
up to four sets of 6 divided equally over the course of each day.

RICES-S Rule
Let's review the RICES-S Rule
1. R = Rest (place the Injury a state of physiological rest & stay off
           of it)
2. I = Ice (apply cold therapy to the involved site)
3. I = Immobilization (movement or motion will worsen an existing
         injury)
4. C = Compression (use a support wrap or elastic ace bandage)
5. E = the immediate application of electromagnetic therapies and
the Elevation of the involved area up to or above the heart.
The elevation of the involved area helps to manage the
swelling by keeping the involved area in a raised position,
which allowing gravity to help remove the unwanted swelling
           and/or edema.
6. S = treat for shock (For an explanation and treatment of Shock,
           please see the shock chapter.)
7. S = correctly fit a support product such as splint, crutches, etc.

Always consult a doctor if pain and swelling continue or if the condition doesn’t make the progress you normally expect to see or have experienced.
